Vanessa has shown at the Propeller Gallery in Toronto as part of their Nuit Rose 2016 Festival and is participating in The ArtBox Projects Miami 2016 and 2017. Vanessa is currently preparing for a solo exhibition of her extensive body of work at the Welland-Pelham Museum of Ontario in November 2016.  To further grow as an experimental artist she is has been expanding her artistic skills, studying techniques in sculpture, silk-painting and other multimedia 2D and 3D works.

With several international moves under her belt from 1990 – 2010, facilitated by her husband’s professional skills, and raising a family, Vanessa has been on a lifelong journey of continual self – education.  Her particular painting style has a flow of its own as it is influenced by every country she has lived in, producing much variety in the end result. Allowing the paint and textured canvas or papers to create themselves through colour, line and texture, the divine feminine is always present in her abstract figurative work. Greatly influenced by Africa, much of her work depicts long lithe female forms, elephants and big cats, although she does not intentionally start out this way allowing the painting to tell her what it wants to be.  It has taken her four years after the last move, to create this particular body of work, many of which have been sold privately.

In 1994, Vanessa and her husband Michael bought and converted a 19th century home in Vermont to raise their young family. In 1998, never having had the urge to paint before and mourning the death of her beloved father who was a skilled craftsman and artist, she was inspired by their shared love of world mythology to pick up a brush and start painting large murals. Surprised and intrigued that it actually took on the form she intended, she followed this new skill with a passion. Soon, others began to take notice, which led to several privately commissioned murals and portraits. After taking several courses for audit at the University of Vermont and with encouragement from her professors, an intense desire to pursue painting with dedication was cemented.

Continually attending dozens of workshops taught by several acclaimed national and international, American and Canadian Artists, and belonging to varied art groups, Vanessa is a successful gallery owner and artist, showcasing her love for the female form, vibrant colours and swirls of channelled energy that choose her to make their mystical and dynamic way into material form to transform the heart of the artist and viewer.

She has had several solo and group showings in various venues, art festivals, local galleries and wineries in the US, New Zealand and Canada; juried and advised for the Welland Rose Festival in their Art category held annually, and holds intensive two day private and group workshops several times a year. With her love for the various arts, she has coached theatre and directed several original plays in Christchurch, New Zealand.
